RESCUERS were called after an elderly lady failed to return from a walk on a rainy and windy evening.
The woman, who had been out walking at Grizedale Forest, was subsequently found 'safe and sound'.
Coniston Mountain Rescue Team (CMRT) was notified of the incident by Cumbria Constabulary at 5.20pm on Saturday.
"Not a great night to be out and about – dark, raining hard and windy," said a spokesman for the rescue team.
"As the team was deploying, however, we were told that she had been found by a farmer safe and sound, if a bit wet."
The incident required 11 volunteer team members for a period of 20 minutes.
The incident was CMRT's thirty-ninth callout of 2020.
