A RESCUE team were called out to a couple who got lost after a 'simple navigational error'.
Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team(WMRT) were called on September 23 to Greathall Gill screes, in a callout lasting over four hours.
The couple got lost after following what looked like a marked path into Greathall Gill, after ascending into what WMRT described as 'difficult and dangerous terrain', the couple immediately called 999 and asked for Mountain Rescue.
Using the PhoneFind app WMRT's team leader was quickly able to identify the couple's location. Talking directly with the couple by mobile they were reassured that the team would be as quick as possible.
A WMRT spokesman said: "The team upon arrival was able to rig a system of safety lines and one by one helped the couple climb out of the Gill. Once back on the path the couple were given a quick check over by one of our casualty carers and then escorted back to the valley floor."
