Mountain rescue teams are feeling the strain under Covid 19.
The Lake District teams have continued to see a high volume of callouts across the region this summer. They tell us that extra stringent measures adopted around Covid-19 have also been challenging.
Richard Warren, the Chairman of the Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue Association said. “It is important the public appreciate that our stringent COVID 19 procedures - followed by our volunteer teams, makes mobilisation & rescue more challenging. Particularly in hot weather, & as a result can extend response times.”
“We also need to keep our teams free of COVID 19 infection at all costs to maintain our resources.”
The service is encouraging us to find out how best to prepare for your days up a mountain by following the special created hashtag of #BeAdventureSmart.
