A DISJOINTED season came to an abrupt end for The West Lancashire League after they expunged all league results due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
The league, which consists of five divisions, had been disrupted with bad weather and now the likes of Kendal County, Milnthorpe Corinthians and Kendal United will have to do it all again when next season is scheduled to get under way in August.
Both Kendal County and Milnthorpe Corinthians were having inconsistent seasons in Division One with Kendal occupying ninth place while Milnthorpe Corinthians were down in 11th position.
Kendal, who saw Richard Close take over as manager midway through the season, had played 19 games as they were trying to find some form.
However numerous postponements due to the weather saw the team struggle to gain any real momentum. Their last league game was back on March 7 when they drew 4-4 at Haslingden St Marys.
Kendal did book their place in the final of the Senior Challenge Cup after they defeated Burneside 5-1 and were meant to play local rivals Milnthorpe Corinthians in the final before the football season ended.
Milnthorpe Corinthians had a difficult season and had only played 14 league games due to the weather. And with games in hand on the teams above they would have faced a huge fixture pile up later on in the season.
Corinthians went into the 2019/20 league campaign with huge optimism after the signings of former Kendal Town players Steven Yawson and Ben Thomas.
However their last league game was in February when they defeated Ulverston Rangers. They did defeat Appleby in the Senior Challenge Cup semi final with Yawson amongst the goal scorers.
And Corinthians Reserve Team finished ninth in Reserve Division Two as they will also have to do it all again in 2020-21.
Kendal United, who play in West Lancashire League Division Two, were 10th in the table after playing 17 games.
However the team, managed by Simon Hansen, did have games in hand in an otherwise frustrating season.
All teams will be waiting and hoping for news on when or if the 2020/21 season begins as they go into the summer break.
