A KENDAL musician is showing his support for the NHS by performing a rendition of Rule Britannia during the weekly 'clap for carers'.
Dave Higson, 58, living in Underwood Kendal, played the piece on a baritone outside his home on Thursday as a show of support for the country during the coronavirus.
Dave said: “While people went out clapping, I thought it’d be nice to go out and play.
“We went out at eight, but no one was around. We saw our neighbours in their top window, so I played for them.
“A lot of people around her are essential workers”.
Dave is a lifelong musician, a former paramedic and former Regimental Trumpet Major in the Kings Hussars regiment in the British Army. He is also a member of the Burneside Brass band.
Dave and several other band members have been taking part in weekly Thursday challenges for different types of music.
He plans to play on future Thursdays with his friends to show their support.
