A BID for £96,000 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund is being made to show a hoard of Viking treasure at Silverdale Library.
The collection of more than 200 coins, pieces of jewellery and silver was discovered near the north Lancashire village by metal detectorist Darren Webster, of Carnforth, in 2011.
Carolyn Dalton, manager of Lancaster City Museum, told Silverdale Parish Council that security would be upgraded at the library.
She is to liaise with Sgt Lindsay Brown of Lancashire Police to ensure the hoard is kept safe.
Local school children are to be invited to have "living history" days at the library. The Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is working with Oxford Archaeology North to create "a virtual landscape of the period".
