A NEW scheme launching today could see the streets of Ulverston become a safer place.
Siemens Subsea has collaborated with six primary schools in Ulverston to try and make parking around schools safer for the children as part of their Safer Parking Campaign.
Each school has designed their own Safer Parking banner that will be displayed outside of the school.
A set of cartoon character mini parking police signs has also been donated to each of the schools, to use either outside their school gates or just inside to hopefully prevent people from parking inconsiderately around the school area.
The children will take on the role of parking monitors, wearing high viz vests donated by another local business, Bender UK.
The Safer Parking Campaign will be launched at outside Pennington C of E School, with the Mayor of Ulverston, Councillor Sharon Webster and the Town Crier in attendance, along with all the children.
Pennington C of E School Head Teacher, Mrs Helen Storey is pleased to be involved in the campaign launching today.
She said: "We are very pleased to be involved with Siemens Safer Parking campaign.
Our children have enjoyed designing banners with messages to remind their mums, dads and family members to park sensibly and safely outside school."
