SOUTH Lakeland's network of CCTV cameras is to be extended in a county wide bid to combat crime.
Twenty-four new cameras are to go up in towns across Cumbria with four earmarked for Windermere, three for Ulverston, two for Ambleside and one each for Kendal, Sedbergh, Kirkby Lonsdale and Milnthorpe.
It represents phase two of a project to install more cameras as a result of Peter McCall, Cumbria's Police and Crime Commissioner, listening to feedback from local people and councils.
Phase one of the scheme saw 56 cameras installed in 2015, to monitor the main towns in the county.
