CUMBRIA'S mountain rescue teams have been called out to fewer incidents in 2019 than the previous year.
The Lake District Mountain Rescue Association (LDMRA) said 2018 had been its busiest year on record with 656 callouts.
Last year saw at least a 12 per cent reduction on the number of callouts for the Lake District's 12 teams as the numbers dwindled to 584.
The final three incidents of the decade came in on New Year's Eve with the last team members off the fells and back home before the strike of midnight, said a LDMRA team member.
"All teams apart from Coniston Mountain Rescue Team saw a decrease in the number of times our volunteers team members had to leave their family and work to respond to calls for helps on the fells and surrounding areas," wrote a volunteer on the LDMRA Facebook page.
"Christmas day was thankfully clear of callouts so a blessing for the families who could enjoy a pager free 24 hours." LDMRA wanted to thank everyone for their support over the past year.
