RADIOTHERAPY patients from south Cumbria and Lancashire are to be given their own brand-new treatment gown after the Rosemere Cancer Foundation charity spent £1,625 on a second batch of 500 gowns for the Rosemere Cancer Centre, Preston.

The charity was asked for help after several patients commented on the polycotton garments not fitting well enough and - although freshly laundered - looking creased.

From now on, most patients will be given their own correctly-sized gown when they start their treatment, which will be theirs to take home and keep until the treatment ends, when they will return it.

Linda O’Shea, acting principal radiographer, said: "By supplying patients with their own new gown, patients can be confident of both cleanliness and appropriate sizing.”

Around 80 new patients are seen each week at the radiotherapy department at Rosemere Cancer Centre. Treatments are typically given daily, Monday to Friday, for up to six weeks.
