A SILVERDALE teenager is one of 45,000 Scouts taking part in the World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia this week.
Seventeen-year-old Dominic Humphries, pictured with friend Adam Welch, of Kirkham, said the Jamboree experience had been "amazing".
Held every four years, the global gatherings are described as "incredible festivals of peace, friendship and adventure" by Bear Grylls, the UK's chief scout. Young people from more than 150 countries are taking part in the 2019 Jamboree in North America, on the theme of "Unlock the world".
Taking part involves two years of preparation for "high adventure" at camps and team-building events.
Dominic said: "The Jamboree experience has been amazing; we have learned so many new skills and made new friends in the last two years, and to be here and experience all of this is fantastic.”
