MP Tim Farron has secured a promise from health minister Stephen Hammond to look into ‘heartless’ fines imposed on the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust.
The Westmorland and Lonsdale MP told the House of Commons the Trust area has three hospitals but is only funded as if it had one and as a result has been fined over £4m in the past three years in debt interest, money he said could have been spent on nurses or doctors.
