A BUSY programme of outdoor activities by the 1st Grange and Cartmel Scout Group has seen an sleepover at Great Tower, Newby Bridge and a weekend camp at Urswick.
Both of the group's Beaver Colonies joined the sleepover when s wild art project, a nature scavenger hunt, a hike and campfire singsong were just some of the activities involved.
The last week the Tuesday Cubs headed to camp at Urswick where bushcraft was the theme as the cubs made smoke signalling beacons, dream catchers and stretchers for carrying an injured cub and they also learned how to use knives safely to create simple projects from wood.
After an evening hike and campfire, the group were ready for Sunday when the highlight was a morning walk up to St Michael’s Stirrup.
The group now has around 90 young people aged from 6-14 but they are now looking for more adults to work directly with Thursday Cubs and Monday Scouts and help the wonderful and rewarding programme of activities to continue.
The organisation is also looking to fill the key posts of Trustee Committee chair and also group scout leader.
Every possible support will be given to those who fill the role, both of which are extremely rewarding.
