LONG distance running experts and elite athletes are part of the line-up for the first ever ultra and trail running festival to be hosted by Giggleswick Outdoor Pursuits, a commercial activity provider based at Giggleswick School.
The event, over the weekend of April 13-14, 2019, will focus on off road and ultra running, especially over distances in excess of the 26.2 mile marathon distance.
Speakers include sports injury and nutrition experts as well as elite runners including Nicky Spinks and Damian Hall, all experienced in going long over varied terrain.
Chris Wright, organiser and head of outdoor pursuits at the school, said: "It will be a ‘hands on' weekend of speakers, practical workshops, equipment and race advice. Whether you are a seasoned runner or an enthusiast eager to find out more, it will help take you to a new level."
The two-day residential festival on the 240-acre Giggleswick School campus, will include guided runs and a number of practical workshops including training for hill climbing, using poles, navigation on the move, fuelling and hydration, equipment selection, pacing and race strategy and injury prevention.
