A TEN-week-old snow leopard will be the star attraction at a South Lakes zoo next month.
Since the new baby snow leopard was born at the Lakeland Wildlife Oasis a few weeks ago, the cub has been in constant demand, with eager visitors waiting to catch a glimpse of him.
And the cub is set to take centre stage at the Hale attraction’s annual Snow Leopard Day on the August 4.
The day aims to raise awareness of the plight of the endangered animals in the wild, as well as raising money for conservation of snow leopards via the Snow Leopard Trust charity.
New manager Jack Williams said: “Each year we support the Snow Leopard Trust with this fundraiser, but this year’s event is extra special for us, as we have our own little snow leopard cub as the focus of the campaign.”
The Oasis will be open from 10am with a host of special activities including the chance to name the little cub. Visitors can enter a name choice into a hat for £1 and the winning name will be pulled at random on the fundraising day.
There will be multiple talks and feeds throughout the day, where visitors can find out about conservation and monitoring of snow leopards in the wild, plus get up close to its parents Tara and Pavan as well as the baby.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis is open 7 days a week, 10am till dusk. Snow Leopard Day activities free with admission.
