CONGREGATIONS in three parishes have said fond farewells to the Rev Hilary Young, who led her last service in Giggleswick, Rathmell and Settle at St Alkelda’s Church in Giggleswick.
The service of Evensong followed the joint Holy Communion at Holy Ascension in the morning.
Members of both congregations and friends from other denominations were present to worship together and with Rev Hilary, and her husband the Rev Norman Young, for the last time.
Choir director Simon Watkins had invited some guests to sing with the regular choir members, and the music included one of the Rev Hilary's favourites, 'If Ye Love Me, Keep My Commandments,' by Thomas Tallis.
After the service everyone enjoyed wine and canapés. Earlier in the day, a packed congregation at The Parish Church of the Holy Ascension, Settle, saw churchwarden John Diggles present Mr and Mrs Young with a cheque, a gift from all three parishes.
They were thanked for their ministry, work and friendship over the last six years.
A special 'best wishes' cake, featuring a sparkler, was made by Dorothy Bearpark.
Mr and Mrs Young are moving to the diocese of Ely.
