A LANCASHIRE farmer on the quest to find true love starred in a brand new BBC Two television series last night (Wednesday).
Ed Towers, 26, a dairy and arable farmer at the Lune Valley Dairy on Brades Farm near Farleton is set to appear on Love in the Countryside.
The six part series will see eight lonely rural dwellers from across the UK enlist the help of farmer’s daughter Sara Cox in their romantic mission.
Ed, who has been single for a couple of years admitted that it is tough finding love when working on a farm: “You have to work late nights and early mornings so you’re not always around.”
He said that he thought it would be a 'little adventure' and that taking part was very much a case of 'stepping in at the deep end'.
He added that a need to understand his work is important to him in a potential partner.
“If we were in a relationship and I was busy, they would need to understand that I have other priorities," he said.
While Ed knows what he is looking for in the love stakes, he blames his work for past dating troubles.
“I have probably been an awful boyfriend over the last couple of years because I was busy with other stuff and my head was elsewhere," he said. "I would like to think I would be a generous and caring boyfriend."
With a passion for agriculture and his work, Ed is also using his appearance in the show as an opportunity to challenge perceptions of farming.
“A big thing for me is to give a good impression of agriculture," he said. "It would be nice to show that we really do care for the animals we look after and that we work really hard.”
Ed appeared on Love in the Countryside last night at 9pm on BBC Two. You can find out if he managed to find his perfect match by catching up on iPlayer.
