MORE than 200 people gathered in Saint James’s Parish Church, Clapham, to welcome the Rev John Davies and his wife Diana.
He was licensed as priest-in-charge of Clapham with Keasden and Austwick with Edlroth by The Rt Rev Nicholas Baines, Lord Bishop of Leeds and installed by the Archdeacon of Richmond and Craven by The Venerable Beverley Mason.
The service was described as being "a joyful occasion" and Mr Davies was welcomed by representatives of other churches, North Yorkshire County Council, parish councils, local schools and many local community organisations.
Mr Davies thanked everyone for the warmth of their welcome and the great spirit of friendship which was displayed.
