A SETTLE man has been jailed for stabbing his friend with a kitchen knife.
Paul Ellis, 56, of Mill Close, appeared before Bradford Crown Court to be sentenced for the attack, which happened in September last year.
The court heard the pair had met up to drink alcohol, smoke cannabis and watch DVDs when Ellis used a paring knife to stab his friend, who required surgery for his resulting injuries.
Abigail Langford, for Ellis, said he had "genuine" remorse and had rung for an ambulance himself following the incident.
She said he had long-standing issues with mental health problems, anxiety and excessive alcohol consumption and it was not his intention to cause harm, or worse.
Ellis, who pleaded guilty to a charge of wounding inflicting GBH, was handed a 27-month jail sentence.
