SIX savvy spring-cleaning tips have been compiled by the recycling and waste experts at Junk Hunters.
Harsha Rathnayake, founder of the London rubbish removal firm, said: "A spring clean is the perfect opportunity to sort through all your belongings and re-evaluate what you actually need in your home.
"It’s natural that as time goes by you will accumulate a lot of things, but keeping it all can often lead to an overcrowded, cluttered home which is difficult to keep clean and over time it can make general living difficult."
Here are Junk Hunter's top six tips.
1. Throw it away. Be ruthless, and offer things to friends, family and charities first.
2. Call in help. Ask your nearest and dearest to help relieve the house of unwanted items.
3. Kick everyone out. When it’s time to get down to a deep clean, you don’t want people running through freshly mopped floors as it will only be demotivating and take double the time.
4. Confront neglected areas such as inside the oven, the top of a tall bookshelf, under the bed, dusty blinds and high ceiling corners.
5. Give your carpet a thorough clean. This includes moving furniture such as sofas and beds that are raised from the floor.
6. Lastly, don't forget the outside of your windows. They have a habit of being neglected in winter and it will make all the difference.
