Police were called at 7:14 yesterday (March 5) to the report of a two vehicle collision on the M6 Southbound just north of Shap (junction 39)
The collison involved a HGV driven by a 54-year-old man and a Nissan Juke N-Tec driven by a 26-year-old man from Carlisle. There were no injuries.

The HGV jacknifed and suffered a rupture to its fuel tank, and the Juke left the carriageway attempting to avoid a collision with the HGV and sustained minor damage.
Vehicles were recovered from the scene and the carriageway cleaned to ensure it was safe to be completely reopened. The HGV lost a near full tank of diesel.
One lane remained open throughout the incident.
