HOLME village was totally marooned last Thursday morning. As someone has recently pointed out, Holme means 'island'.
But it is no 'paradise' - residents in anything other than a 4x4 risked serious damage to their vehicles, and property. Emergency vehicles must have been finding it a serious challenge due to abandoned vehicles.
The A6070 was all but blocked at J36, Holme Quarry and Clawthorpe (which had a new lake!). The road near the quarry was still flooded on Thursday evening and there were no advance signs coming from either direction that the road was affected.
Now the water has goes down, let's hope that County Highways takes a serious look at this key route, as these problems have been ongoing for several years now.
