A woman was rescued from the river by a member of the public in Gargrave last night, say North Yorkshire Fire Brigade.
Firefighters were called out to the incident at around 5pm to reports of someone going into the river.
The woman is reported to have been rescued by a member of the public living nearby.

Martyn Hughes, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Servicewatch manager for Skipton Fire Station, tweeted at around 6pm: "Now returning from a water rescue incident #Gargrave where a member of the public has rescued someone from the river #TrueHero
"Lady rescued to embankment by a local neighbour before we arrived, assisted @YorksAmbulance to carry casualty to ambulance"
She was then transported to hospital by Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
