The Westmorland Gazette's pre-General Election debate will go ahead tonight (Thursday, May 25) after the political parties involved agreed to resume local campaigning from lunchtime today.
Candidates from the main political parties who are standing in Westmorland and Lonsdale to be the next MP will be going head to head tonight at the hustings.
The event will be held in the large cafe at Kendal College on Milnthorpe Road at Kendal from 6.30pm.
It is vital that those who have booked tickets to come bring along their ticket, which will be checked on the door. Entry will not be allowed to anyone who does not have a ticket.
An audience of around 250 people will hear James Airey (Conservative), Eli Aldridge (Labour) and Tim Farron (Liberal Democrat) answer questions submitted by readers on a variety of local topics.
You can follow the debate as it unfolds by visiting thewestmorlandgazette.co.uk where there will be a live blog running from this afternoon. You can also follow the debate and get involved on Twitter using the hashtag #WGdebate2017
There will be full coverage of the debate in next week's Gazette.
Gazette editor Andrew Thomas, who will chair tonight's debate, said: "It should be an informative and entertaining evening which allows people to make up their minds about who to vote for at this important election."
