The list of candidates contesting the Westmorland and Lonsdale seat in the Parliamentary election on 8 June has been confirmed.

Nominations for the election closed at 4pm today.

The statement of persons nominated shows that four candidates’ names will appear on the ballot paper standing for election as MP for the constituency:

Airey, James (Conservative Party)

Aldridge, Eli (Labour Party)

Farron, Tim (Liberal Democrats)

Fishfinger, Mr (Independent)

The election in the Westmorland and Lonsdale constituency is being managed by the Acting Returning Officer, who is a senior officer with South Lakeland District Council (SLDC), and the verification and count will be held on 8 June.

As well as the notice of persons nominated, the SLDC website has today been updated with the full list of polling station locations for the parliamentary election.

The deadline for registering to vote in the 2017 General Election is 22 May. Anyone who needs to register to vote you can do this by visiting: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

Anyone who is unable to get to a polling station on 8 June can apply for a postal or proxy vote.

The deadline for receiving new postal vote and proxy vote applications, and for changes to existing postal or proxy votes is Tuesday, 23 May

The deadline for receiving new applications to vote by proxy is Wednesday, 31 May.
