Snow is causing chaos on the roads this morning.
Two lanes are closed and there is queueing traffic due to an accident and snow on M6 northbound between J38 A685 / B6260 (Tebay) and J39 B6261 (Shap).
The travel time through the area is said to be is 40 minutes. Lanes two and three are closed. Recovery has been requested.

There is snow on the A590 both ways between the A592 (Newby Bridge Roundabout) and B5277 (Meathop Roundabout). Motorists are being advised to approach with care.

On the A6 at Forest Hall near Tebay there is heavy traffic and the road is partially blocked due to snow and a broken down lorry both ways around Huck's B. Recovery has been requested and Highways officials are directing traffic.

Kirkby Stephen Grammar School has posted on its website that the school will be closed today due to snow.
Also closed are Penruddock School in Eden due to snow and Waberthwaite CoE School because it does not have electricity.
