A WOMAN has died after the crash on the A6 this morning.
The 26-year-old, who has not been identified, was driving a Citroen car which collided with a trailer carrying a mini digger south of Shap at around 8.30am this morning (15 March 2017).
The trailer was being pulled by a Mercedes Sprinter van prior to the collision.

The car was driving south and the van was heading north.
The woman, from the Penrith area, died at the scene as a result of the collision. She was the only occupant of the vehicle.
The road was closed in both directions for several hours as officers investigated the circumstances of the collision.
It has now re-opened.
Anyone who witnessed what happened and has yet to come forward is asked to contact Cumbria Police on 101 quoting incident number 33 of 15 March 2017.
