MORE TOP STORIES:

Rosemere Cancer Foundation spends the donations it receives on vital equipment, research and training that cannot be funded by the NHS as it strives to bring world class cancer treatments and services to local cancer patients throughout South Cumbria and Lancashire via their local hospitals and the Rosemere Cancer Centre at the Royal Preston Hospital, which provides all regional radiotherapy treatment as well as other specialist care.

Over the last year, Rosemere Cancer Foundation has invested £142,428 in projects to benefit local cancer patients being treated at hospitals in Kendal, Lancaster and Barrow.

They include the refurbishment of a prosthesis fitting room at Westmorland General Hospital to create a more sympathetic and comfortable environment for breast cancer patients, a quiet room and information hub at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and an end of life suite at Furness General Hospital.

In addition, it has funded complementary health therapy sessions for all newly diagnosed patients to help counteract treatment side-effects, promote well-being and build confidence.
