MUSICAL talent drawn from more that 150 students at Queen Katherine School was showcased at a Christmas concert held at Kendal Parish Church.
The packed church was enthused by a wide variety of performers from small ensembles and choirs to the school orchestra and big band. The repertoire was festive and ranged from lovely arrangements of Frosty the Snowman to a male cappella arrangement of Santa Buddy, performed by Man Band.
Many groups were led by the school’s large team of peripatetic teachers, which included a chamber choir led by Hannah Fleming and flute ensemble led by Sara Heath. They performed a mixture of non-festive and festive numbers such as May It Be (from Lord of the Rings) and Sleigh Ride.
Emma Ward and Leah Bell (Y12 music students) co-led senior choir, whilst Laurie Hurley (Y13 music student) composed an original number for the salsa band.
The evening climaxed with a thrilling performance of O Christmas Tree by the QKS Big Band.
Head teacher Jon Hayes said how proud he was of the students involved and how they were great ambassadors for the school and the wider community.
