YOUNGSTERS hoping to join Heysham Power Stations’ apprentice programme are being offered a chance to meet staff at an open day this Sunday (December 18) at the site’s Visitor Centre.
Heysham power stations, which took on 13 apprentices last year, are running ‘information mornings’ at the Visitor Centre on December 18 and January 7 starting at 10am.
Apprentice co-ordinator Kevin Demain is also visiting schools and colleges to talk to students about the programme.
On Sunday, people interested in the training programme can meet some of the sites’ apprentices, who have been through the training scheme.
The closure date for applications is January 15, 2017. Successful applicants will then take tests, followed by interviews and then join an assessment centre before the final selection is made.
EDF Energy’s apprentices all train together at HMS Sultan training centre, near Portsmouth, and successful applicants and their families are taken to see the facilities in May.
