A MAN in his 70s has been airlifted to hospital following a road traffic collision on the A590 near Levens.
The man was driving a Peugeot Partner involved in the collision which occurred at 10.45am this morning.
A Great North Air Ambulance trauma team treated the driver for a serious chest injury. He was flown to Royal Preston Hospital where he arrived in a serious but stable condition after a 20-minute journey.
A 68-year-old female passenger in the same car was airlifted to hospital by the North West Air Ambulance.

A 29-year-old Grange man who was driving a Vauxhall Vectra which was also involved in the collision was uninjured.
The incident at Gilpin Bridge left the A590 closed in both directions for several hours before being reopened by 3.30pm.
