The A590 at Greenodd was closed for an hour this morning due to an incident involving a shed load of 'hazardous material containers'.
There was queuing traffic between the A5092 (Greenodd) and B5278 (Haverthwaite), with congestion westbound to Brow Edge Road and eastbound to Arrad Foot.
It is understood the incident happened at around 7.30am.
All lanes have been re-opened. The road was completely closed for around an hour until 08.40am.
Firefighters have been in attendance.
Buses on route X6 between Kendal and Ulverston are subject to delay or cancellation.
