In the first two months since the AA launched its series of basic car maintenance videocasts, almost 7,000 people have turned to them for help.

Checking the Oil' has consistently been the most popular videocast, followed by checking fluids and changing a tyre.

However in the week before the first bank holiday weekend Driving abroad' and Preparing for a journey' leapt into second and third place as motorist logged on for advice for the weekend ahead.

The wet weather forecasted for the Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend had a huge effect on the podcasts with Changing wiper blades' storming into second place from seventh.

Steve Jay, E-Business Manager at the AA, said "The interest in the podcasts is growing by the day. Motorists are obviously finding them useful when planning a long journey as well as doing their basic car maintenance. We have been getting some great feedback and we are planning on launching more in the future. Our records show that it is not only British motorists who are benefiting from the expert advice from the AA, we have seen a large amount of traffic from around the world including Japan, so they are truly getting world wide exposure."
