LIFEBOAT crews were called in to action, after a man was reportedly trapped by incoming tide near Barrow.
The Spirit of Tamworth' inshore lifeboat was launched from Roa Island to rescue the man from the waters at Foulney Island.
The Liverpool Coastguard reported him to be in danger, but when the crew arrived they discovered he was a sea angler who was not in distress.
The lifeboat returned to the station at 1pm today (Friday), 15 minutes after they were called out.
