STAFF at Kendal's Heinz factory are holding talks with union leaders after the global food giant announced a handful of jobs could be relocated.

Nigel Dickie, a spokesman for the firm's Farley Health Products factory on Mint Bridge Road, said around six employees could be affected by proposals to move the site's research and development department to two new "centres of excellence" in Milan and Wigan.

"We are in discussion with the team involved and no final decisions have been made," he said.

A decision is likely to be made over the next few weeks.
