POLICE across Cumbria will be carrying out random roadside checks on motorists from Monday in a bid to crackdown on drink driving. Main routes, rural roads and even housing estates will be targeted during the seven-day enforcement campaign which will see drivers breathalysed and given leaflets highlighting the link between alcohol consumption and serious road accidents. Supt Ted Thwaites said: "If you drink and drive in Cumbria this summer, there is a strong likelihood you will be stopped and breath tested by the police."
