THE theme for the annual Kendal Torchlight Festival has been chosen and will celebrate the passion and spirit within the community.
Torchlight organisers along with carnival entrants are going to be "Celebrating Kendal's Spirit" at the September 9 outdoor spectacular.
Last year more than 27,000 people watched local schools, teams and organisations taking part in the Carnival and putting on a procession that really represented the creative diversity within the town.

Torchlight team leader Vicki Wright said: "The past year has been difficult for many people both in our town and across the county, however we have also seen a strength and spirit where people have pulled together and supported each other through the challenging times.
"The aim for 2016 is to celebrate the passion and spirit within Kendal's community as well as everything else we love about our town here in Cumbria, the gateway to the Lakes."
Entry forms for this year’s event are now available on the Torchlight website. For information on how to enter visit the Carnival entries page.
