LIFEBOAT crews from Barrow rescued a man who had become stranded by the rising tide on Foulney Island yesterday (Sunday).
RNLI’s Barrow in-shore lifeboat was launched just before 2pm after the man called police.
A RNLI spokesperson said: “The man, who was not injured, was safely aboard the boat at 2.07pm and was brought ashore at Roa Island.
“The man was very apologetic and grateful for the efforts of the crew and the station. He went on to explain that he was a visitor to the area and not familiar with the local conditions.”
