DISRUPTION could be caused to weekend rail users as Network Rail plans to carry out extensive work near Oxenholme station.

The work is scheduled to begin on Saturday, April 23, and last until Monday, May 30, and will see sub-contractors for Network Rail attempt to fit a new access route for trains looking to join-up with the main line.

One Kendal-based train expert, Malcolm Conway, is sceptical about how well the replacement bus service will work.
Mr Conway said: “The lower car park at Oxenholme Station is already closed so what does this mean for people looking to park there cars there?
"If all the buses do in fact arrive at ten past the hour then what happens when you get six buses arriving at once?
"It could spell trouble for commuters.”
