THE Queen's forthcoming 90th birthday was discussed by Carnforth Town Council, with members deciding the council "does not have the resources" to arrange a celebration.

Meanwhile, Carnforth is among town and parish councils invited to nominate their most recent mayor or chairperson for an invitation to a Buckingham Palace garden party. Town clerk Philip Charnley has made an application.
