We’ve all planned the conversation about what we’d say to Adele if we met her in person (right, guys?) – and it turns out Lionel Richie is no different.
Talking on the red carpet at the Grammys on Monday, he told CBS, “I’m here to meet her backstage. My opening line is going to be ‘Hello, it’s me’ and she’s going to be like, ‘No, is it me you’re looking for?’”
As Twitter so quickly pointed out, Monday night’s Grammy tribute to Lionel would have been the perfect place for a Hello/Hello mash-up.
Instead, we’ll have to settle for the equally wondrous moment, actually captured on camera, where Adele and Lionel Richie finally said “hello”.
But there is going to be a collaboration!
Lionel continued: “We have to do a mash-up of ‘Hello’. It’s coming.”
Lionel was honoured on the night with a stellar tribute that included Demi Lovato, John Legend, Meghan Trainor and Luke Bryan playing his hits and those from his Commodores days.
Let’s hope any collaboration doesn’t end like this:
