MEMBERS of a South Lakeland parish council have taken drastic action to save a village playing field from a developer's bulldozer.
Burton-in-Kendal Parish Council has locked the gates to the village's Boon Town play area to prevent Impact Housing Association carrying out digging work on the field ahead of the construction of seven new homes that is scheduled to start in September this year.
However, local children can still get into the play area through a smaller gate.
