TORVER commoners are inviting the public to join them for a walk over land they and their forbears have had grazing rights over for generations.
For the first time, the public is invited to see how the landscape is managed, using time-tested methods, spanning centuries.
Commoners, farmers and Lake District National Park Authority staff will be leading an evening stroll, starting and finishing at Hadwin's Land Rover garage, at Torver, near Coniston, and taking in Kelly Hall Tarn and Long Moss.
LDNPA ranger Sue Thompson said: "There is plenty to talk about and see.
"We'll be looking at how the common has evolved and how sheep grazing and bracken is controlled. The area is also rich in archaeology, flora and fauna."
The walk and talk will start at 6.30pm on Monday, June 25, and should be completed by 9pm.
Anyone interested should contact Sue Thompson on 015394-40262; Pat Barr on 015394-41348; or Arnold Lancaster on 015394-41505.
