POLICE are appealing for information after gun-toting vandals caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage in a quiet Grange residential area.
Grange PC Colin Morris said police were keen to trace armed attackers who smashed windows at houses in Charney Road using either an air gun or a BB gun.
The tranquillity of the normally quiet suburb of South Lakeland was shattered sometime around April 30.
"We have had about four or five windows shot at with either a BB gun or an air gun and it has probably caused between £700 and £800 worth of damage.
"A couple of the windows are double-glazed and three of the four properties that have been shot at are residentially occupied," he said.
PC Morris warned those responsible that carrying either type of weapon could result in problems.
"BB guns can be seized and removed from people in possession. They also have the appearance of an imitation firearm and it is not wise to have one because we could send armed officers to deal with it if it is reported.
"It is certainly illegal to be shooting airguns in a street," he added.
