A MAN is in a serious condition in hospital after his car somersaulted, hit a tree and landed in a ditch near Staveley this morning (Thursday).
Kendal fire station manager Callum Graham said fire crews took around 40 minutes to cut the man from his green BMW using hydraulic cutters and spreaders.
Police currently have no other details about the man and said he is in a serious, but stable, condition in the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
They said the road was closed for around an hour to allow debris to be removed.
Two fire appliances from Staveley and Kendal attended the incident, which took place by the Plantation Bridge garage, near Staveley, at around 1.30am.
