A Windermere man is inviting people to join him at the town's war memorial on Tuesday (May 29) to celebrate the work of the United Nations and to remember those who have been killed in its service.
John Walter, said the war memorial at Lake Road bore the name of Harold Haworth, a local man killed with UN Forces in Korea in 1951.
The United Nations has designated May 29 as the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers. Mr Walters, of Lickbarrow Road, who is a member of the United Nations Association's South Lakeland and Lancaster City branch, can be contacted on 015394 46359 to arrange the time of the visit.
