POLICE are warning people to be on their guard following a number of sightings of suspicious vehicles.
Crime prevention officer Terry Belshaw said that vehicles had been spotted close to Ulverston and in Arnside with the occupants either touting for scrap materials or selling power tools.
He said: "Vehicles have been seen around outlying areas and it could be that they are looking out for what equipment people have got at their property because at this time of year people are out in their gardens using equipment. If people offer to sell power tools the chances are that they are either stolen, of poor quality or dangerous and people should be aware.
"There are obviously people out there who sell equipment as a business, but the public still need to make sure they know what they are buying."
