LAKE District businesses have been encouraged to go green by a leading eco-warrior and travel writer.
Speaking at the annual meeting of Cumbria Tourism, guest speaker Alastair Sawday, who has written 25 travel books and is behind the popular Special Places To Stay series of books, urged firms to think in an environmentally-friendly way to help to preserve the beautiful countryside in the region, as well as helping the rest of the world.
Mr Sawday even suggested to the audience at the Rheged Discovery Centre, Penrith, the radical idea of banning any visitors from bringing their cars into the county.
