RUGBY: Cumbria RUFC went down to a last-gasp try, losing 31-26 to Warwickshire in the County Championship Shield at Carlisle on Saturday. Rugby Lions centre Tim Douglas went over for the vital score. Earlier Nuneaton wingman Lee Perry had claimed a hat-trick of tries for the visitors, with ex-Cumbria player, full-back John Lowden, also crossing. Broad Street fly-half Chris Brown kicked three conversions. Cumbria's response came via tries from Aspatria fly-half Robert Miller, Fylde flanker Daniel Bowman and two tries from Manchester full-back Sean Hannah, Miller kicking three conversions. Cumbria now entertain Notts, Lincs/Derby at Aspatria next Saturday, needing a win or a draw to stay in the shield next season.
