Carnforth based Wayne Sisson made a near perfect return to road rallying when he drove to third in the Evo Challenge at the RBS International Manx Rally.
The former British junior champion had planned to take it easy on Friday's opening stages - but a spin saw the Arnside Motorsport Mitsubishi Evo 9 pick up a front right puncture.
Sisson recovered and finished 15th overnight before Saturday saw the local star show his class away from the gravel and claim his podium place.
Says Sisson: "The weekend pretty much went according to plan apart from the spin and puncture right at the beginning.
"I think our result proves that our tactics were correct, third in the Evo Challenge is a big boost for my championship hopes."
The result takes him to fifth overall in the standings ahead of the Severn Valley Rally on June 2.
